CeMAP Past Papers: Do They Exist, and What to Use Instead
LIBF doesn't release CeMAP past papers. Here's what's actually available — free specimen papers, LIBF's paid practice exams, and independent question banks — and how to use them.

If you've searched for "CeMAP past papers", you've probably noticed that they don't seem to exist. That's because they don't — LIBF doesn't release past exam papers for CeMAP.
This is different from some other qualifications where past papers are a standard study resource. With CeMAP, you need to use other materials to practise. The good news is there are several options, including a free specimen paper for each unit.
📋 What's Available
- Free specimen paper: 1 per unit, included with registration
- LIBF paid practice exams: £25 per unit or £40 per module
- CeMAP Revision Tool: £90–£180 from LIBF
- Independent question banks: exam-style questions from providers like ExamDen

On ExamDen.uk, every question comes with a clear explanation linked to the relevant learning outcome
Why LIBF Doesn't Release Past Papers
LIBF uses on-demand exams with remote invigilation. Because candidates can sit an exam at any time — there are no fixed exam windows — releasing past papers would risk compromising the question bank. The same logic applies to other on-demand exam providers: if the questions are recycled, releasing them would let future candidates memorise answers.
This means you can't study by working through old exam papers. Instead, you need to use practice materials that test the same learning outcomes in the same format.
What LIBF Does Provide
1. Free specimen papers (1 per unit)
When you register for CeMAP, you get access to one free specimen paper for each unit: FRE1, FRE2, MRT1, MRT2 and ASEW/ASSC. These specimen papers use the correct format (same number of questions, same time limit, case studies where applicable) and are the closest thing to an official past paper.
How to use them: save your specimen paper for a realistic, timed practice run towards the end of your revision. Don't use it on day one — you'll learn more from it when you've covered the material and can treat it as a dress rehearsal.
2. Paid practice exams (£25 per unit / £40 per module)
LIBF sells additional practice exams through MyLIBF. These are separate from the free specimen and give you more questions to practise with.
3. CeMAP Revision Tool (£90–£180)
LIBF's own revision tool, available for individual modules or the full qualification. Includes additional practice questions.
| Revision Tool option | Price |
|---|---|
| Module 1 (FSRE) | £90 |
| Modules 2 + 3 (MORT + ASEW/ASSC) | £120 |
| All modules | £180 |
Why Mock Exams Are More Useful Than Past Papers
Even if CeMAP past papers existed, they wouldn't necessarily be the best way to prepare. Here's why:
Past papers test last year's syllabus
CeMAP's syllabus has changed significantly — the September 2025 restructure replaced UKFR with FSRE, collapsed MORT's four units into two, and moved exams to Brightspace. Any "past paper" from before October 2025 would use the wrong format, the wrong question count, and potentially the wrong content.
Past papers have a fixed question set
If you work through a past paper, you see those specific questions once. You can revise the ones you got wrong, but you can't use the same paper again because you'll remember the answers.
A question bank gives you a much larger pool of questions. You can practise hundreds of questions per unit, target specific learning outcomes where you're weak, and take multiple timed mocks without seeing the same questions each time.
Mock exams tell you where you're weak
A well-designed mock exam doesn't just give you a score — it tells you which learning outcomes you need to work on. This is far more useful for targeted revision than a past paper that just shows you which questions you got right or wrong.

On ExamDen.uk, a mock result shows which chapters are below the 70% line, so you revise those instead of the whole manual
How to Build a Practice Plan Without Past Papers
Here's a practical approach that replaces the role past papers would play:
Phase 1: Learn the material
Study each learning outcome and answer practice questions as you go. Don't wait until you've finished the entire study text before testing yourself — test as you learn.
Phase 2: Chapter-by-chapter practice
Once you've covered all the material for a unit, practise questions by learning outcome. This lets you identify which topics you're strong on and which ones need more work.

On ExamDen.uk, practise by learning outcome to find your weak spots before you take a full mock
Phase 3: Timed mocks
Take at least 2–3 full timed mocks per unit before sitting the real exam. These should use the correct format:
- FRE1/FRE2: 40 questions in 1 hour, including case studies
- MRT1: 50 questions in 1 hour
- MRT2: 40 questions in 1 hour
- ASEW/ASSC: 60 questions in 2 hours
If you're consistently scoring 75–80% on timed mocks, you're ready. If you're below 70%, go back to chapter-by-chapter practice and target your weak learning outcomes.

On ExamDen.uk, timed mocks use the same question count, time limit and pass mark as the real exam
Phase 4: Use the free specimen paper
Save LIBF's free specimen for a final dress rehearsal, as close to your actual exam date as possible. Treat it exactly like the real thing — timed, no breaks, no looking things up.
What About "CeMAP Past Papers" You Find Online?
Be cautious. Any material labelled "CeMAP past papers" that you find on third-party websites is likely either:
- Outdated — based on the pre-September 2025 structure (UKFR, ITFS, UKFS, MLPP, MAPP, MRPP, MAPC)
- Unofficial — not from LIBF, with no guarantee of accuracy or relevance
- Incorrect format — using the old question counts and time limits
If you use any third-party practice material, make sure it matches the new CeMAP structure: FRE1/FRE2 with case studies, MRT1 at 50 questions, MRT2 at 40 questions, and the 70% pass mark.
